Cat in the rain by Ernest Hemingway


The story "Cat in the rain" is written by Ernest Hemingway.
It is told by a third person narrator who has a limited point of view.
There are two Americans in the hotel in Italy where it is raining all the time so they have to stay in their room.
The girl looks outside the window while her husband is lying on the bed and recognizes a kitty which hides under a table.
She decides to get it so she goes downstairs where she meets the hotel owner who makes her feel good and important because of the way he behaves when she is there. While standing outside a maid comes with an umbrella and tells the girl that she need to come in because she doesn't believe that there is a kitty.
Back at her room she is getting on her husbands' nervs because she tells him what things she wants. After a little while telling him he says that she should be quiet but she tells him again and again that she wants a cat.
At that moment it knocks on the door and the maid stands there with a cat which the hotel owner had send for the girl.
